Falling inflation and decent pay rises needed to get incomes growing again
Commenting on the latest inflation figures published today (Tuesday) which show that consumer price index (CPI) annual inflation fell to 3 per cent and retail price index (RPI) annual inflation fell to 3.5 per cent in April, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:

Prices now rising eight times faster than wages for the poorest families
The cost of living for the poorest 10 per cent of households increased by 4.1 per cent in March, eight times faster than average weekly earnings, according to the TUC living standards index which has been updated today (Tuesday) ahead of new inflation figures published later this morning.

‘A Future That Works' – mass TUC demonstration in London on 20 October
The TUC is to organise a mass demonstration in London under the banner of ‘A Future That Works' on Saturday 20 October 2012. A march through central London will culminate in a rally in Hyde Park.
On March 26 2010 the TUC's March for the Alternative attracted 500,000 people to a march and rally in London.

Around one in five workers over 55 regularly works from home, according to a TUC analysis of official figures published today (Friday) to mark National Work From Home Day, organised by Work Wise UK.

TUC on latest fuel poverty figures
Commenting on the latest fuel poverty figures published today (Thursday) by the Department for Energy and Climate Change which show that the number of families who had to spend more than a tenth of their income on gas and electricity in 2010 fell by 500,000 - the first drop in seven years, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
